Las Vegas Poetry Slam Rules & Qualifying For the basic rules on slam, check Poetry Slam, Inc.'s Poetry Slam FAQ for all the offical rules on slamming. Our qualifying rules go like this: --Top 3 poets in a qualifying slam are qualified for finals in the spring. --If a poet makes top 3, they are qualified for the entire season. Poets are not required to compete again until finals; however, if a poet wants to compete multiple times, that is okay. Please keep in mind that once finals are planned, they are planned! If you cannot make finals, then you cannot compete to be on the team. The draw for finals happens 15 minutes before it begins, and if you are not there for it, you will not compete. Also, if you get on the team, please keep in mind that the team will be practicing during the summer, usually with a weekly schedule in mind. If you can't commit to regular practices with the team during the summers, please let them know when you get on the team. You commitment to team practices will depend on whether you will be included on fundraising events and merchandise. |
